I’m sure most of people have either heard or become angry over the Conan vs NBC & Leno debacle. Sure during the media frenzy of the Haiti earthquake, it may seen superficial to some to even be worried about “two White Guys” and millions but, as a long time Conan fan and observer of his nearly up-hill battle with NBC, you better understand why you need to be concerned about the fate of Conan and realize what he truly represents the small business vs the too big to fails and the prize pig counterparts.

See for entertainers, its either a Leno should be blamed or its just Conan failed persecutive but if you see how Conan was setup for failure since his Twelve05 presence , and Leno’s past run in with Letterman, you will realize there is nothing noble or innocent in this final outcome.

Now why would I say Conan represent the regular person? Consider this, the Tonight Show has always been a power job. Once you get it, you are official apart of the “Suits of the Industry.” This means you can make everything work around you because you are the cash cow. If you fail, someone on the show list has to give up the budget to keep the cash cow alive. Sound familiar?

The way I see it, Conan represents the small business, micro American consumer. His show was never really contracted with NBC in confidence so, he worked from literally a check to check gig for the longest. (Look it up, its one the only if not the longest contractual option in entertainment.) So in a sense NBC worked with Conan but never had any intentions of really putting a buget behind him. Similar to a small business get a loan aproved from a big bank. Its when Conan’s fans put him up not a network budget, they had to take note.

Next, Leno who noted retirement in 2004 to make way for Conan, acted as if NBC just told him to do something he really didn’t want and its Conan who failed with ratings. Less we forget how when Carson retired, HE WENT AWAY. And then Leno’s rating actually sucked for nearly 3 years, during the height of the economy, while getting owned by Letterman who was intially up for the Tonight Show job. If it wasn’t for Hugh Grant, people wouldn’t have even really cared. But, notice how people are so focused on Conan’s failure, during a failing economy and not that Leno only had a strong 5ish 6ish years, after Letterman got old and crankity.

Next, Conan finally gets the gig, and what does Leno do..not sit his head down. He take over the time slot before Conan as if NBC had his dog held hostage or else and then as a loyal Conan watching fan..I waited…and waited and for a long time, Conan just wasn’t on TV. To the point when we was on, I basically didn’t find out until he was nearly a month in on his show. I’ve noticed when networks want a show to fail, their real good at extended breaks, long enough for people to get tired of waiting and find a new tv regime. So the lead in time for Conan never really was due to the buget going into Leno’s new special and then Jimmy Fallon. People knew it was so wrong on Leno’s part in Boston, they refused to show Leno due to support Conan. And on top of that the local news channels say Leno hurt their raitings.

Now Conan, like a small business owner took the responsibility of the employment of his entire team which moved from NY to LA. He even paid for them during the strike, OUT HIS OWN POCKET. So for you this may seem like just a TV thing but its just proof of how big companies are destroying the moxy of the small business owner and the families they are responsible for.

But with all of that said, Leno currently a ratings failure, if he continues to drop like a Goldman Sachs will NBC continue to pump funds and marketing in Leno while letting all the other shows fall at the waist side? I mean, will this be the end of say Heroes to save Jay?

To that I equate getting stabbed in Bergodff, seriously WTF? Last week some hoodrat tried to rob a Louis Vutton store in the upscale Chicago mag mile now this. Are you sure they are limiting credit?

But, when Dolla got shot, I said I must be outta the loop cause I confused him with Drake, cause somebody got shot at his concert too. Seriously Obama really has put light skin bruthas back in rotation I see. Anywho, getting shot in Los Angeles, point blank? Its like the mysterious shots fired over 10 years ago. A lot of conspiracy theories about why a lot of the people out in LA getting shot stem from gang activity, label disputes, even secret societies, to even the damn “devul.”

Overall, conflicting reports about Dolla being shot over a girl, to some thirsty employee that got fired, to a jealous dude. Its sad he died, but once again like rappers that got shot back in the 90′s he actually rapped about getting killed, very ominous right?

I think what makes his murder seem sorta fishy is that he was shot in such a high profile location, in the head. Like a contract killing or assassination or something. A beef shot would be in the chest, etc. But what do I know. For all I know those Pac conspiracies about people not following the oath, thus getting narc’d could be true. Who knows. It just seems like all of that.

Albiet on the half of the good card owner vs shady card company or a shady customer exploited by a shady card company.

Now Congress is moving to limit the penalties on riskier borrowers, who have become a prime source of billions of dollars in fee revenue for the industry. And to make up for lost income, the card companies are going after those people with sterling credit. [via]

Even the president who plays a good role of saying enough to shut people the hell up, is probably hoping somewhere we forgot about this credit card fix. But like always the lobbiest got to Barney “Double Talk” Frank and the rest of congress and squat got done. And now…they are not only staying the same, they are going to be after people who have been paying/using their cards…ON TIME. Yes, people this is a new world where the harder you work, the more skill you acquire, the more responsible you are, you will be completely ostracized, punished and abused. And for those aware, this new “culture” of destroying the hopes of strong & responsible is spreading in everything we do.

“It will be a different business,” said Edward L. Yingling, the chief executive of the American Bankers Association, which has been lobbying Congress for more lenient legislation on behalf of the nation’s biggest banks. “Those that manage their credit well will in some degree subsidize those that have credit problems.” [via]

If I had know the douche bag replaced the american eagle I would have been a jerk right around 2003. Its obvious, its toooo easy to say, fix this and turn the economy around…thats how you know there is special sauce in the mix of bull we are being fed.

Seriously, what is someone’s motivation to be a good customer and keep up good credit, if it no longer matters?

There were a lot of financial ups and downs over the past month or so. We had complete drop to almost 6,000, to a quick (& suspicious) return to reach back over the 8,000 mark. Although the cheap stocks, helped my Thor Industry THO stock do major gain-age of nearly $7. I have to say, this is a buyers market if you’re feeling confident.

In the same light, there was finally some motion of regulating credit cards which I said, was the trojan horse of the credit crisis. We’ll see how much the credit card companies basically jack everything up before an official regulation.

The car industries are crying but, I can’t feel sorry for them. They’re 10 years too late to introduce non-gas guzzlers, which is ironic since 10 years ago was the saturation of SUV’s. If they had attempted mainstream hyrbids and new fuel techonolgy in 1999, by now, there wouldn’t be a need for such an abrupt restructuring, during a recession. I mean who wants to waste money and save the 8 track player…now.

There were tea party complaints by people who hated taxes, who where then infiltrated by republicans , who where infiltrated by racist, who where then infiltrated by the media. It was a big ignorant mess, originally about tax changes that were potentially going to be introduced by the Obama admin. I mean no one likes taxes and yet, there were no complaints last year or the year before. So a pertinent concern, wrapped up in a big ole’ pile loss power and bitterness.

Oh, and the job numbers….has gotten worse.

Also, with everyone’s “all the sudden interest in the economy,” the blog’s focus will be upgraded to meet the new needs of awareness and foresight. In other words, make readers aware and alert of the new things to notice in this new climate.

In the meantime, feel free to check through the archives and see how Urban Magnate was one of many un-noticed blogs that despite lacking the expensive resources, interviews and the “experience” in the financial sector, helped post the signs that predicted the current economy polar shift.

Newbos are young African-Americans who rely on working-class values, a capitalistic philosophy and entrepreneurial instincts to create wealth and fame that would be unimaginable to their forebears. Largely male, they are using entertainment, professional sports, and media as foundations upon which to build diversified enterprises, some already worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Droves of other young blacks are building businesses and careers in industries that have sprung up around these sports, entertainment and media figures, including sports and entertainment agents and lawyers, producers, financial advisors, publicists, composers, choreographers, stylists, personal trainers and security professionals, among others.

Unlike previous generations of blacks striving to succeed in a white-dominated world, these young moguls and their retinues have found their economic power in refusing to assimilate. Recognizing that institutional racism and other social and cultural barriers often block their way forward in a traditional white-dominated economy, they embrace and commercialize their interpretations and versions of black style and culture, a trend that reflects the emergence of non-traditional, creative leadership — think Bill Gates and Steve Jobs — in every aspect of the American economy. Their rapid rise from almost nothing represents a shining new aspect of the American dream, but also creates unprecedented challenges in their lives. [Full Article]
