First off, when you go to a page, esp a gossip one and you hear abitrary gossip about a where-have-they been…a dump ass reader will think “oh wow, there they are”…a smart one, may not care but, a savy one knows when that blog has merely been paid to put that person or product on people’s mind, regardless of the good or bad press…and to that, get your paper blogs. But….

FTC is now looking into taking mofos getting over with Blogola. Sure when you go to a site and the background is blaring ads or a new show’s banner is all covering the damn text, you know somethings is up.

…such back-scratching endorsements could become tougher under a coming set of Federal Trade Commission guidelines designed to clarify how companies can court bloggers to write about their products. This summer, the government agency is expected to issue new advertising guidelines that will require bloggers to disclose when they’re writing about a sponsor’s product and voicing opinions that aren’t their own. The new FTC guidelines say that blog authors should disclose when they’re being compensated by an advertiser to discuss a product. [via]

Now I’m all for people getting legal tender by all “legal” means, cause the more legal it is, the longer you keep it but, I’m really worried about people’s perception of what they read and based on real life discussions I have had with people…some people really do believe everything they read. And are skeptical about actual things that could help them…well played.

See the whole blogola thing seems meh..but when Rupert and the boys start talking about charging fines on those copy&pasting AP articles, the once atmosphere of opinion sites known as blogs, start to create the illusion that opinions trump legitimate journalism. I mean there are whole schools dedicated to journalism ethics and to call yourself a journalist when all you do is blog is why all of this is bogus. If you take opinion based writing or gossip and pass it off as ethical, of course people will want to make money off of it and…take money from it, it not be apart of the whole “machine” to dumb yo dumb ass down.

Oh and one of the most crudest forms jacking an invention. Like the victimizing of some of Garret Morgan’s inventions, sometimes, people decided they don’t want to clear things and just take it. Watching the trailer, my heart hurt for that moment when he see’s his invention, in mass production driving down the street.

It could be his integrity, demand for respect or pride that would lead him to not allow the jacking. It makes me think of all the famous rappers that are knowingly enjoying the success from someone’s lyrics or beats, or hell style.

All I kept thinking about was Kelis and how her infamous style and music tone had been carbon copied all over the Pop and Hip Hop soul genre. Unlike Bob Kearns, there is no true format for music style and sending someone to court, within the Hip Hop genre, is there? If so, for many Chicago artists the format is give’em a record deal to get them off our back. Of course they probably kick themselves when they realize they can’t sell a thing because its sorta like a double edged sword. You tried to sue me for stealing your song, so I’ll give you a record deal and sabotage its success, cause hay, you tried to sue me.

Get something stolen from you is heart breaking. At first some people are excited and then there is remorse and anger. Like the movie and history for many minority inventors, is the support the fighting factor in winning the swagger back? Is the follow through important to see it never happens again?

I guess I’m waiting to see if there will one day be an underground revolt with a class action suit toward big record labels. Then again, underground swagger jacks the old, and it might just be one long civil suit.

50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, accuses the Mexican-style fast food chain of “diluting the value of his good name” and employing a guerrilla advertising campaign to fool consumers into thinking he had endorsed the chain, said the lawsuit, filed in Manhattan federal court.

“Without seeking or obtaining Jackson’s authorization, defendant Taco Bell made him the star and focus of its nation-wide advertising campaign by using his name, persona and trademark to promote Taco Bell’s business and products,” court papers said. [Yahoo]

Some say this is over-reacting but for a $4 million lawsuit, its obvious that he’s not trying to go there. That small amount is making the point, if a name is branded, you cannot just use it in good faith, especially when the person is still alive or not cracked out. He could have sued the whole franchise but, something tells me this is a lawsuit many could do but are just to lazy or to aptheic to care. Just like Disney, this is the same guy that gets paid every single time someone clicks on his name in Youtube. You see how his BM faired trying to ruin his name.

I feel it might get settled since the amount is small. If he was Mc Hammer, it might have been more..just saying. Meanwhile, I could have swore I saw a Diddy commericial in the we-hours for Burger King.

For most of major cities, the Fox channel and its morning, afternoon and nightly news has been the hot bed for upcoming minority anchors. In Los Angeles, Fox new syndicate pushed a Pro-Illegal agenda, while the cable news channel was CLEARLY anti-illegal immigration. In Chicago, most of the front end and backend staff is mainly Black and VERY PRO-OBAMA. Some would even call the local Fox New channels across the country, “Pro-Liberal”. Like across the country, the local Fox channel, in general, showcased the most prime-time Black shows in the 90′s. Go figure.

Then the cable news channel became the forefront for questionable banter on “right wing,” “Bush agenda” protection, almost overnight with the tragedy in September of 2001. They were also accused of questionable minority and Black political coverage. Most notably talking head shows where Black politicians received greasy jabs and the anti-liberal agenda was created to balance other networks, seemingly liberal agenda. To keep it real what is now being titled “Faux News” by such notables as Nas, had good points to question race baters. People forget, the US “majority” are their primary viewers.

As much as Nas made good points on Faux news hypocrisy. This hypocrisy became more potent during a rash of WTF moments in the Black community and the recent presidential election. Yet for Nas, his only beef was that, the “They Shooting, Made You Look…got you shook” rapper wanted to perform at Virginia Tech after the shooting massacre. He had a right to perform but, I felt it would have been in bad taste. Then again a core number of the students seemed to sadly get off on the all the press attention. To the point the campus student body was split on whether anyone needed to give more than 5 press interviews on the matter, within the week of the tragedy. That cause a rift between students, which was only know outside the news.

Fox News (cable) brought all sides to the table which most will never admit. If some hoodrat does some unthinkable crime, asking why it happened should have never been called racist, especially with something like a 3 year old smoking weed. I actually watched because of the hardcore coverage of US news. It was the first time people looked at the antics in the Black community without fear of being called racist, cause they just asked…why? Then, due to people’s dislike of Bush, news channels became commentary channels on how much they hated Bush, when all I wanted to know was “What Happened.” Despite it all, you still want to know what happened. Outside of the “commentary” shows, the general news coveage for Fox (cable) was pretty solid And I’m grown up enough to admit that.

Then Obama ran for office. And the vibe of the channel started to change. Anchors who just covered the news started making greasy comments. Being a fan of all news channels, I found myself changing channels. The under belly of the cable fox news became clear and for the first time, the ratings started to drop. Their “majority” viewership changed political motivation. People got fed up with the lack of news coverage and their non-stop obsession with hating on Obama. It was even more clear when Clinton campaigners would go on and thank Fox News (cable). In a parallel world, the local Chicago channel for Fox News, was anything but. The reporters almost gushed over Obama coverage. Most of them not only attending the infamous Trinity Church but, openly admitting support.

What people fail to realize, Myspace and most of the social networking sites are owned via M&A by the same channel they despise. The financial coverage and business channel covers hints and faults, people are too proud to watch cause of their hatred of the channel. So while people hated Faux, they sprinkle some prophesied financial stuff in their business coverage. I mean, they basically own the stock market. I actually think they purposely did that in spite of its angry viewers, they are not watching anyways, sucks for them.

The local Fox News is almost polar opposite of the cable channel. What people fail to realize, outside of commentary, news is news. And most of the newly organized news comes soley from Associated Press. Unfortunately if I turn to Fox News Cable right now, they’re probably still talking about Jermiah Wright….bitter much?

She opened her mouth and ruin a good thing. And the way things are going, he might be the first hood father not only get custody from a hoodrat but, be ordered by the courts to not pay child support to a BM, cause for stupidity…I can hear the judeg..”Are you sure you want to sue him with his money? You know its all or nothing…okay lets hope the check cases”

So this is how she messed up a good thing:
- This chick was getting over 20 thousand a month to just chill, messed it up.
- She was living rent free in a mansion, messed it up (and i suspect, she set it on fire when she had to pay rent). Its not really hers to care.
- making a public matter that makes people, who even hate 50, defend him
- Getting financial and litigation advice from other hoodrats.

The last note is obvious since she is sueing him with his own money; thinking if she burns the house down and sue for 50 Million she would get her “owed” money hook or by crook. Her 20 pairs of Baby Phat jeans and 3 gucci purses couldn’t have added up to that much.

Here is the deal, if she was a real hustler, she would have started a business to have an undeniable lifestyle that required the kind of money she asked for. Buying 2 million jars or brown hair gel and cheetos can not add up.
.
She doest own anything. What kills me, people are always blinding in support of BM’s but no one ever thinks, hmmm. when the kid hits 18…what will they do then?

If I didn’t know any better, I’d think she was getting paid by 50 himself, to create drama for 50 during his album sales…either way, despite it all, the kid stays out the limelight, and used to managing drama…i mean, his dad is 50. This is the same kid who started his career playing with a Ja Rule doll.

“Write the check before the baby comes, who the hell cares” – 50 Cent in I Get Money

Over the past week or so, crazy going on’s in Hip Hop business:

Like I suspected Jay-Z’s “management team” for 40/40 has been running some Castro esp employment fairness. There have been reports one of his managers even threatened an employee if they joined the pending class action suit against the establishment and disgruntle workers. The problem is Contactmusic’s history of indulging but, going thorugh a similar EEOC style tactics, a lot is said when people think they can get away with it. [Contact Music]

Youung Joc pulls a <a href="http://urbanmagnate.com/2008/06/10/we-like-rappers-that-like-rappers-who-like-paying-bills/>Lil Wayne and skips out on a $25K retainer for customization on his car’s stereo system. [Bossip]

J Prince charges are dropped. I didn’t really follow this case but, it sounded too suspect to random to even speculate. Clearance of vocals and what not…thats pretty normal now days. [Allhiphop.com]
