A white elephant is a valuable possession which its owner cannot dispose of and whose cost (particularly cost of upkeep) exceeds its usefulness.

Apparently the notion of MTV Cribs may not be good enough to broadcast. If not a blood curdling experience for its owners, when reruns of his/her homes are shown.

Here is the problem, those million dollar homes that people like Shaq, 50 Cent, or even Tyler Perry owned that became popular via shows or in Tyler Perry’s case, a movie can not be sold. Some of them are being cut to nearly 50% of its value. It has nothing to do with their expenses as some blogs sorta insinuated but that they are the ONLY ones with the money to take a property like that off their hands.

The ironic twist is that sooner or later the rich will have to reciprocate each other’s luxury items. It doesn’t help that a new report came out stating Millionaires lost 30% of value. And for ever rich person that converts to Upper/middle class, thats one less potential buyer.

Not to mention customized amenities like Shaq’s gaudy Superman laden marble floors and 10 feet tall kitchen cabinets might be a bit hard to sell. Well unless a Sheik comes it and scoops it up. But everyone knows the post disaster Beverly Hills is in Dubai. So Sheiks aren’t even looking at the US like that.

Its a hard call, pay it off it till you own it or pay it off until you pay under its value and in time paying more for the home than what its worth, far from an upside down, its more than likely hemorrhaging pockets and foreclosure is not an option for them. And having a White Elephant is better than being in foreclosure any day. Well unless an accident happens to the house…* looks left and right * but, I’m not talking about talking about the rash of expensive houses on fire…*cough*

As much as people feel wealth will be the new taboo this year, the wealthy do take a lot of economic punches first, that could feel like shots to the lower incomes. As they say, once the rich get hit, regular folks are not to far behind.

“I’m on to you speculators. I’m not your puppet. I’ll freak out when I feel like it……okay, now”
It would seem normal to bring up the whole mess with the buyouts and the markets and the debt, etc. True these past few weeks have been a mess. Granted I was outta town enjoying Cali. During the flight back it hit me. Don’t hype up the situation. For me it just seems so over the top.

As soon as I landed, I get an email on my phone, “Airlines to Lose $5.2 Billion Worldwide This Year” – Wired.com I mean despite LAX, I did feel like the terminals were sorta empty.

In addition, after word of the Mac and Mae mess, like anybody that gives out favors, now Ford [[F]] has their hand out. These fools are asking for $50 bill to help them, despite the obvious reason, they need to make gas-less cars. The government has started a damn mooch phenomenon.

Of course it must be troubling for full out financial sites to talk about the markets. Its been a slow death since the beginning of this year but, I just can’t add to the speculation. The ish is just sad.

The strangest thing, this is an election yet, I’ve never seen everything fall apart so fast. Usually things “appear” to get better to help the party and or candidate. Not this year. Everythang is a mess. Its almost like this is the last year of government and we’re cashing out lol…wait thats not funny.

As I was watching Glen Beck about the confusing lack of prevention of the housing market and the bailing out of companies like Freddy Mac,etc. As most know and if you don’t and you own property, you might want to. The government is working on buying out many mortgages that were held by the large mortage and loan companies.

It got me thinking, if the government buys out most of the mortgage industry, like the government buyout during the market crash, back in the day, will this lead towards more imminent domain ownership? Bare with me if the specifics of the assumption is not solid, but it got me thinking, when you have a home, the city owns the sidewalk, you own the yard. In my situation, a city tree was put in my yard (it seemed like a good ambience suggested by mom, cause she does have a good green thumb) anywho, I can’t cut the tree or do anything to it, despite being on my property because….its not my tree its the city’s.

So, this is just a tree..imagine if the state or the government owns your home? I guess the closest thing to land dictatorship is living in a gated community or suburb that fines for having grass blades over 1.25 inches.

Something is fishy with this and Im not sure if its by design as most things that infuse politics but, something sounds wrong with this picture.

Robocop for me was the first movie, I had seen on VHS. It was also the first movie I saw when I moved to Chicago in the early 90′s. Though being ignorantly fascinated with VHS, the movie was scary, merely because of the violence, I never realized how prophesied the premise was. So, when they mentioned a new Robocop coming out, directed by Darren Aronofsky to hit theaters in a couple of years, I said..wow, things must have really hit the fan. And second, Darren Aronofsky, best visually documents, the afterlife aka once it all hits the fan, what happens. Basically using him makes a cinematic point, they want to scare the dog snot out of people on how the new dystopian future surpasses what was once thought as worse during the 80′s. I mean, what they thought was bad then, is our reality now, so what would be our Dystopia take?

What movies like Robocop told in an overt manner, Corporations are not only questionable but, when things get bad in society and there is economic chaos, corporations have clearance to do what ever the hell they want. Directors like Paul Verhoeven and John Carpenter have been know to put social economic hints in their movies. I mean, Paul’s other noted movie, Starship Troopers foresaw how the Iraq war would play out, over 10 years before. Robocop and Starship Troopers, noted, specifially how we actually utlize the internet and technology for information. News, online and ondemand? Way ahead of its time. So with the social and generic economy hitting new awkward points that get down played by numbers, just like in the Robocop series, what better time for a Robocop movie, huh?

Catching OnDemand episodes of Rocobop, 1, 2 and 3, I realized that Robocoop 3, which more openly discussed corporate takeover, was critized for being hokey. Then again, hollywood had gone complete corporate and a conflict of honest interest. Now that hollywood is ailing I bet those same reviewers are saying Robocop warned us of eminent domain and the foreclosure crisis. Once again, way ahead of its time.

Now when Robocop came out, it was “hypothetical” that a major America city could fall apart and be cannibalized by developing corporations.Watch Roger and Me, Flint Michigan has been screwed and the auto industry there is near dissolved. Unlike most sci-fi movies, with a lazy and/or lacking social message, I urge people to go watch Robocop, disregard the dialogue and the RoBO suit and pay attention to the discussions in OCP offices and see if most don’t see a mirroring effect with our economy, the war and big business. Forget Halliburton, OCP = GE [[GE]].

Secretary Henry Paulson said the Treasury is seeking expedited authority from Congress to expand its current line of credit to the two companies and make an equity investment in the companies — if needed.

“Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac play a central role in our housing finance system and must continue to do so in their current form as shareholder-owned companies,” Paulson said Sunday. “Their support for the housing market is particularly important as we work through the current housing correction.” [Foxnews]

I remember saying the housing market would be the new Enron, before the experts pegged that as rhetoric. Many are now asking how could congress allow this to happen in the first place. They got Enron, why not them….well, congress, the Bush and mainly the Clinton administration benefited from Enron..sooo why wouldn’t they bail out these guys. How do you think the 90′s economy was so hot? The tech bubble busting around the time Enron flopped is no coincidence. The millionaires that grew during the early 2000′s from real estate and the flipping phenomenon is one in the same. Just saying.

So, whats the new bubble? the credit card crisis..oh no…The “green” movement. When people realize global warming is an outer-space problem, or the organic food really wasn’t that healthy/recalled, an asteroid, volcano or black hole or radiation pocket caused the real warming of the earth…people will start regretting all of the money they threw away. Think about it, if a global catastrophe, not relating to “global warming” occurs, who would think about carbon footprints then? Many are getting wealthy from this movement and the earth is still jacked up, after 40 years. Most start ups are green related, like the tech movement 10 years ago. So, my guess Green is the new bubble.

Though, I believe drilling for oil will cause the big one and I do agree in consolidating garbage and clean water cause all we have is the water we have..that carbon footprint crap is a one in billionth resolve for intergalactic problem. I mean, the grand canyon used to be under water…it COULD be worse.

Here in Illinois, Lisa Madigan might be the only functioning politician in Springfield that actually advocates for the public and um does her job. (Granted, Jesse White’s pretty consistent too). She’s policed crooked ways of companies to help consumer protection and been pretty successful, once you get past her lazy front office.

Now she’s made national, if not world business news on a lawsuit again Countrywide for predatory lending practices, all while newly welcomed Bank of America’s ownership became official. Is there a lemon law for M&A’s?

Madigan is seeking a 90-day stay on all Countrywide foreclosures in process and an order allowing revisions to loan terms for borrowers who were subject to illegal practices.[Bloomberg]

The inks not even dry yet and California is jumping on mortgage crusade against, Countrywide aka BoA. California has already, if not been the advocate before it was popular to dump on lenders, starting the Washington Mutual mess.

It’s going to be increasingly expensive for BofA because they are taking on all of these lawsuits,” said David Olson, president of Wholesale Access Mortgage Research, in Columbia, Maryland. Countrywide was “too aggressive and they should be punished.’[Bloomberg]

Having once co-oped a home loan with my mom and Countrywide, it sent chills up my spine..then I realized, this is the standard, which is why I dumped them. Now for Illinois, its hard to not see the errors of Countrywide but, not notice the errors of the delusional potential homeowners. So far I’ve seen since I paid attention to the home ownership and the whole real estate process, both are to be held responsible. You should have seen the late 90′s, the bugie side hustle went like this, “I’m a teacher, I sell real estate…and Noni juice.”

What’s even worse, on the Southside of Chicago, most of the lenders and real estate agents, are Black and work in Black neighborhoods. So, they coasting through the old neighborhood and hustle up home loans for people who have no clue about the process. And instead of schooling them on the ways of homeownership, they get exploited….wait, is predatory lending the new crack? Spread like wildfire, people selling it to their own people, despite knowing they don’t need it, people stunting from the cash they made from it?….wow.

In just a short time, the economy hit epic proportions starting with the arrest of the Bear Stern guys. Now, I’d hate to took my assumption horn but, I did say the mortgage situation would be the new Enron. Its obvious the arrest of the two guys will lead to more bigger fish. Deals will be made and they will sing like canaries.

Then, the did a prelim sweep of 400 real estate agents, loan officers, etc. My bet they all took workshops seen at 2 am and figured, if Donald Trump can do it, so can I. My very reason for pausing on real estate investment. I dodged a bullet there, thats for sure.

Then, the market, dropping under 12, not good, food prices are at an all time high and the floods around my way are so bad, the damages, for corn alone are to be estimated at $3 Billion. Yep thats all that gas underwater….irony is something else huh?

So, unless you’ve been outside, enjoying our “End of Days” weather, you might have heard about one 50 Cent, Baby Mama, said Baby, one Mansion (with vinyl siding, really?), and a fire.

Now, based on what I saw on the news, 50 is in Louisiana shooting a movie and the Baby moms who was suppose to be evicted was living there with six members of her crew…stop.

Now I know the new reporting of this story has been told in detail so, I’m not going to post that. You can read that here. Some are already saying 50 tried to kill her…people only get off’d when LARGE money become a problem, just saying. Anna Nicole, large money…a hood rat with no equity, not so much.

What I can say based on her antics in the street and on the news, with her “gank dat nucca” crew…
I’m under the strange suspicion, that she calls the house..hers, when its clearly not. Crying about not getting child support, then after taking it to court, they discover she was already getting too much for doing absolutely nothing, and cut her money. That’s right, the law cut her off, not the son. I mean open a hair salon or something, damn. But no, she’s probably chilling on the porch of her mansion, all day.

So it came down to reports of her being evicted, for not paying rent. Why he would charge her rent? Cause she has six people that are not her kids living in the house and from past reports one or some were men. Now why would 50 be paying from some nucca(s) living in a house, with his kid and he’s paying for it.

All that leads me to belive the moms, is on some funny stuff. She was real quick to point the finger about “HIM (50)” setting the fire, or having someone “Do Something to her.” Now, if he’s getting her to leave and she has her whole crew living in a vinyl siding mansion(…sorry, thats just called a big a$$ house, not a mansion), I can hear them saying, “He want me outta here, how bout I burn this mutha down, since he want it back so damn bad. The he can’t have either.” Im just saying, she just comes across someone who would do that. Why? Well when the news and the fire trucks came, she was not crying or cussing with smoke on her face, HOLDING THE SON. If none of them where in real danger, (the kid has to be safe for money reasons) and since she doesn’t not own it, then only one loosing is him.

Instead, her crew was around, consoling her while she screamed at the camera, “He’s trying to kill me.” I can see her now, a few weeks later saying he needs to reimburse her for all of her clothes, lost in the fire, after taking his son on a shopping spree. It be a shame a Black woman could do what, nine seemingly bullets couldn’t.

She running games when other women are dealing with this garbage for real, damn shame…but it just seems like that.
