Someone asked me if I had a problem with Rush Limbaugh owning a portion of the St. Louis Rams and my response was a real quick… No…not really.

Now I’m sure people would expect outradge and what the fuzznuts but, I look at things differently than most, for which I have long ago accepted.

See there seems to be a real sure thing, if you want someone do the opposite, basically just say “Rush likes it too.” Not only has he become the sure fire distraction for big issues in news/media. Its a sure way to get someone to do exactly what you want and for those that agree with him, its a two-fer cause the reality is, Rush doesn’t agree with half the stuff coming out of his mouth, making him dangerously impressionable but, in no way one of a kind.

So for my response to him owning a part of a NFL team, I asked this question to the person who asked me…”You know about Rush, but I bet you have no clue were the heart lays for the men who own most of this stuff. ” And that is the real question, if you found out a major company owner was a racist or a child molester or Michael Bolton fan, would you continue to use their products? 9 out of 10 chances is, you already have been and would come up with excuses to continue being a loyal customer.

Does it make it right? Well, the real question what can you live without? What most people fail to realize many of the owners of these teams have a lot in common with Rush, you just have the luxury to hear what he says most of the time. The difference, he gets paid to say it which makes him the victim of possibly sensationalizing for profit. Making him not really one of the billionaires that own teams but a wannabe, with a freshly cashed check. The controversy of what he says keeps money in his pocket but, if he was caught in bed with Omarosa and Oprah, his career would be done, lets keep it real. If anything it seems like he does everything allowed, to prey and profut off of the racial insecurity that plagues America.

What’s even worse, if you have a problem with him owning part of a team, imagine White rich men, over 60 years ago, who at that time where open and unapologetically members of the Klan and actually went to the lengths to keep ppl of color on their team. I won’t even go into these baseball teams. Yet we all hear about Jackie Robinson or Clemente breaking barriers because at that time, ppl just accepted most team owners were racist. Now, not so much. I wonder why that is? And if there is a problem with him owning a part of the Rams, should there be a problem with Jay-Z being apart of the Barclays invested franchise? I mean its no secret Barclays was the go to supply store of the slave trade movement, yet there was no major public outcry then.

Lets face it, if we stopped using products such that aided the Nazi movement or anything else we’d be left to riding bicycles, twigs and using rocks for pens. Rush prosing to buy in, just let the common folk in on what’s been happening for years. Should we be happy that is happens in a time when there is economic peril. It just seems like if he bought a stake in the team 15 years ago when ppl had money, very few would actually complain.

From Alex Jones, to Glenn Beck, MoveOn.org, NAACP, Jesse Jackson, religious right, to gay rights. Even a David Duke, Isreal or Islamist extremist. Many people in the country of the US, or even the world always seem to have a better idea of how this world we live in could become a better place. The common threshhold is njustice in that person’s eyes and how it would be if it were better handled. The only downside, somebody always have be destroyed…go figure

Now I won’t go into a who did what to whom deal. What should really be considered are how things done to certain groups should affect us all and if certain things were changed, would we just realize we will all never agree, and just chill the out or simply destroy ourselves trying to make each other get it.

What comes at a crossroad is how we’d go about these changes. Sure its easy to complain to the president or about the president. Blame congress, who does hold responibility of allowing certain measure through without complete public knowledge. Even the matter to expose these measures through unorthadox means by berating other people or to the extreme of inflicting harm. For every person, it always seems like THEIR way is the best way to solve all of life and the worlds problems.

But I ask this…If each group that cries injustice were given a bit of power to mainuplate the outcome in their favor, how would they handle it? What kind of boss would you become if there were no penalties for ethics? What type of person would they be? Would there be room for an economy at all or just a complete overlord setup?

If lets say a Glenn Beck became the neo-Walter Cronkite, a trusted source or even more extreme, in power, how would he handle it? If NAACP, were give complete automony over one races agenda, what would be the outcome. Even for the middle Americans worried that Black folks and Illegals dun took over the country, how would they mange the problem.

The problem is we sorta already know. I ask out of complete facetiousness because people fail to realize social changes in this country have never really been tradition. If anything there is a tradition in believing in tradition. I can speak on America but its sorta been a trial and error country. Slavery didn’t really work out so it got changed, immigration didn’t really work out so it got disregarded. We really haven’t stuck with a format in this country longer than meh.. 70 years, except that the Fourth of July is a BBQ. A work in progress but the direction of that progress always seems to hurt the feelings of the people who thought they had a good ol American tradition on their hands.

When I look around and think how would the people around my way handle themselves, if the world ended, how would an Alex Jones handle the world issues that he passionately rants online/radio? Would he be a gentle leader like King David or a fascist tyrant like a General Bethlehem of the Postman book/film (shown above)?

I also look at how someone in position of influence handles their enemies in general. If a question leads to an explosion of words and cusses, if an injustice calls for a complete destrying of a career, such as Jesse jackson/Sharpton for Imus. What would be the outcome? So far we have seen a little of both. For anti abortion, the lengths to kill and bomb people have been the What if..for that particular group if they had control over society.

When we see poor inner city neighborhoods, we see the Third World inherited, culture of corruption over the poor. Just as an African dictator ravages his homeland, inner city politicians bankrupt and corrupt a position meant to repair and salvage a community.

Its fair for each person to believe THEY have the solution to solve the problems. To protect, serve and all that junk. The problem is that it, in the end it usually involves completely exterminating other opposers. For me, many of the naysays scream insecurity and for me that always a bad formula from chaos. I mean, isnt that how most of the world dictators and evil villians get their start, they become what they hate and the stronger that hate the worse they become. For every person who you agree with, think about how they would reign over you with that same ethic and THEN come to a conclusion.

Albiet on the half of the good card owner vs shady card company or a shady customer exploited by a shady card company.

Now Congress is moving to limit the penalties on riskier borrowers, who have become a prime source of billions of dollars in fee revenue for the industry. And to make up for lost income, the card companies are going after those people with sterling credit. [via]

Even the president who plays a good role of saying enough to shut people the hell up, is probably hoping somewhere we forgot about this credit card fix. But like always the lobbiest got to Barney “Double Talk” Frank and the rest of congress and squat got done. And now…they are not only staying the same, they are going to be after people who have been paying/using their cards…ON TIME. Yes, people this is a new world where the harder you work, the more skill you acquire, the more responsible you are, you will be completely ostracized, punished and abused. And for those aware, this new “culture” of destroying the hopes of strong & responsible is spreading in everything we do.

“It will be a different business,” said Edward L. Yingling, the chief executive of the American Bankers Association, which has been lobbying Congress for more lenient legislation on behalf of the nation’s biggest banks. “Those that manage their credit well will in some degree subsidize those that have credit problems.” [via]

If I had know the douche bag replaced the american eagle I would have been a jerk right around 2003. Its obvious, its toooo easy to say, fix this and turn the economy around…thats how you know there is special sauce in the mix of bull we are being fed.

Seriously, what is someone’s motivation to be a good customer and keep up good credit, if it no longer matters?

Newbos are young African-Americans who rely on working-class values, a capitalistic philosophy and entrepreneurial instincts to create wealth and fame that would be unimaginable to their forebears. Largely male, they are using entertainment, professional sports, and media as foundations upon which to build diversified enterprises, some already worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Droves of other young blacks are building businesses and careers in industries that have sprung up around these sports, entertainment and media figures, including sports and entertainment agents and lawyers, producers, financial advisors, publicists, composers, choreographers, stylists, personal trainers and security professionals, among others.

Unlike previous generations of blacks striving to succeed in a white-dominated world, these young moguls and their retinues have found their economic power in refusing to assimilate. Recognizing that institutional racism and other social and cultural barriers often block their way forward in a traditional white-dominated economy, they embrace and commercialize their interpretations and versions of black style and culture, a trend that reflects the emergence of non-traditional, creative leadership — think Bill Gates and Steve Jobs — in every aspect of the American economy. Their rapid rise from almost nothing represents a shining new aspect of the American dream, but also creates unprecedented challenges in their lives. [Full Article]

Its normal to hear (or over hear) about an elderly person that has moved to the “Uppa room” and left the church most of their amassed wealth, while leaving the living family with their surmountable debt. Some not even near death, spend nearly $20 a visit in the collection plate. Consider adding up to an average of 2 visits a week for over 20 years? Little did most of them know, the social dynamics of churches are actually equated to Wall Street. Investing, predicting determine who leads/manages. Wishing and praying some things to work out while damning other’s to fail. With money being left to them by death and pride, I’m surprised the urban church community doesn’t actually hold more assets. For the people and all.

Considering how much money people spend at a church that contributes to seasonal acts of kindness. It also contributes to pride, gossip, jealously, laundering, envy and the Pastors brand new Lexus, all for the sake of being needed or improtant. Sounds like’s most description of Wall Street doesn’t it? So who shares the villain title on the poor now?

The amount of nearly $50 a week for over 20 years, could combine to a nice savings that can be used for good and for responsibility. Now investing in the church and that’s exactly what it is, that’s fine. I’m sure there are moments people see their investment with potato salad, charter buses and reunion t-shirts In many Black churches it was the source of community investment and expansion, during the time banks didn’t allow Blacks or Latino communities (based on undocumented customers.) Its fair to say most people of color (Jews included) at one point in this country needed their religious community to manage the local economy.

But here is the problem, over 50 years later, those direct needs are antiquated, yet the churches’ opulence and greed has gotten stronger. To make matters worse, the Reverends are now paid by special interest groups to indoctrinate ideals and customers, they now receive the maximum allowance of social funds and tax breaks and it seems more than ever, its not enough.

Many have been guilty of exploiting the financial ignorance of their church goers by scaring religion into them, to hand over their money for salvation. Instead of assisting with patrons who own homes, with properly balancing their check books and advocating responsible mortgages. They wait till it hits the fan and complain not during the process and but afterwards. These are the same people that allow their patrons to pay them, when they know $20 can mean no food for the week, all for the sake to exploit pride in the church.

Now, when it comes to values, many exploit the mention the questionable quote of an old woman, who gave everything she had for the church (I’m paraphrasing). Now, I’m not here to rewrite history but, it seems like a slight revision to the scriptures to assure, you have right to sell everything you own, not for Gd or Jesus but for someone who has anointed themselves, Gd’s messenger, for the great good….them. You can’t serve two masters right? I’ve always seen that as a sly way to say, its either the Pastor or Gd. Mind you how many times the word of Gd has been revised to model after whoever was ruling at the time, for their personal gain.

In this recession, I have learned more things about myself and my values for money. I look for spiritual guidance not to amass wealth but to be given the strength to make the right decisions, especially if I gain or lose money. To have the confidence in the bigger plan regardless if I like, that’s where my confidence in my sprit lays. When I question that plan, I fail. When I have the choice, I see that as a gift accountability.

We all have the choice to allow ourselves to confuse our wealth, our place in church, our success and the simplicity that Gd asks of us. Sadly people are running to church to help them restore opulence, instead of asking if this is a chance to make all their wrongs…right. Take away distractions.

I always think its amazing how when ever I need money, it falls in my lap and when I want it, I never get. Churches need to realize they are being tested and bleeding funds out of their patrons for self gain during are terrible time, you are no different that Wall Street.

The factor of breaking down our stimulus seduction… has come upon deaf ears for irony. On one end, the America’s need to take suggestions from Republicans, has made them completely insecurity, even before voting the bipartisian “Zero,” heard round the world this past week. Despite making good points on the second half of TARP (seriously sod for DC Mall, right now?), who would want to listen to them after backing the previous “Republican” president who denied the inevitability of recession until the day after it was made official, we were in a recession. Granted, I give credit, when credit it due, they and the trojan horse of the majority Democratic Congress could all be held blame. We’re at the point if Republicans had the cure for cancer, it would fall on deaf ears at this point, just saying.

So now, here we are with a stimulus that has the potential to create “green” new jobs, with the restoration of our bridges and roads and all that character building work many of us had heard about back in the day. Its obvious construction leaves less room for new mp3 player development and I have a strange suspicion if most of us are blue or t-shirt collar workers, that faux paus fastlife is the last thing on a mind when battling mere survival. Signaling a new turning point (for good or for bad), those streets of Minority Report cars and futuristic societies could all happen, for real real. We can actually see neighborhoods go from Good Times to the Jetsons (with Blacks & Latinos folks), though I always felt Rosie was Dominican.

With all the talk of green and new jobs, on thing never passed my mind. What if none of this works? What if there are no more jobs and the few we have, leaves a massive layoff trend even bigger than what we see in less than 3 months? (3 Months is my dramatic effect duration).

Over at the DMI Blog, Harry Moroz’s “Stimulating Modernization” discusses an overlooked factor, the unemployent benefit program. I even admit, looking at unemployment had never crossed my mind because, if we’re losing jobs, we’re doing something wrong.

“Along with funds to continue the extended unemployment benefits program and to increase the weekly unemployment benefit by about $25, the House stimulus bill includes $7 billion in incentives for states to modernize their unemployment insurance systems. Currently, as the National Employment Law Project quite thoroughly documents, state low-wage and part-time workers are often excluded from unemployment benefits. This results from eligibility criteria that exclude a worker’s most recent earnings (making it difficult for low-wage workers to accrue enough earnings to qualify for unemployment assistance if they are sacked) and that exclude unemployed part-time workers by requiring that they look for fulltime work.[Harry Moroz - DMI Blog]“

But in this day, its a necessary evil to point out the weak bureaucratic sectors of the government that’s never been tested for weakness, well besides the contracted org, FEMA. Its clear its time we be honest with what’s always been a lil broken. Remember the levy’s were a “lil” broken, and the SEC was a lil off about Madoff.
