9% & ABOVE A STRONG POSSIBLITY

After all of the finger wagging lessons by our older generations, you might find annoyance or slilence when they try to go to their children or younger friends and complain about how bad the economy has become. For us, its been this way our entire (early) adult lives. Very few of us has really seen the American dream of college and the value worthy job. That has never been our reality yet, when older people tell it, we’re spoiled. A few years ago, there was an article on older people’s myth about us. I’m a big advocate for fairness and yes young people can be douche bags but, could that douchieness be the result of their parents self inclined insecurity, the parent imposed medications, or the culture of cute fuckery?

Me and most people I know have always worked. The few that had not, relied on family connections to get jobs and everyone else lucked on having babies and having a parol officer publicist to parlay the non-profit pity money handed out in so many inner city schools. Sure it seems unfair to say but I’ll speak truth by saying inner city school reward wayward activity over hard working poor students. There is just more money in pitiful situations. Hell they get more from the system than self reliant children cause its hard to look like you care if the actual person does. Even in college your more likely to receive a scholarship or assistance if you “have a baby.” Am I lying?

Regardless on method of survival, we (Y’ers) have become a generation of survivalist, for better or for worse. The worse, meaning we thought when you work harder your reward is just the same, or the lack of finance education perpetuates our downfall. Now when I gradutated everyone’s suggestions on where I need to work or why I needed to work for this company fell flat as I saw the future of layoffs and ethics in these businesses. They reasons for not wanting certain workers just seems unreasonable, if money was the MO. So seeing this, I refused to look at “should be” companies, and when I tested my theor and applied to one….I got laid off, before my first day. Last one hired.. thats all Im saying.

Now when I made this point, I was once again called paranoid but the truth is hard to hide and the truth is, young adults and sadly men (or a combination) are getting fired quicker than the mythical young over old hiring process. Now unless your 55 trying to work at MTV, I doubt old people are getting passed up for entry level workers in a general sense. I’ve found the worse it gets the more “experience” they’d rather have, cause innovation just sounds expensive. Email? How much does that cost? Facebook? That sounds like playtime to me…

OF course people would love to argue with who has it worse but older people had the benefits of the 80′s, the awesome 90′s and that last leg of interface advancement in the early century (man that sounds old). We are and have been in competition for job survival by workers who have been there longer, who don’t plan on sharing because, “we’re selfish” who really selfish?… the developed weak workforce is more anti-young worker, plain and simple. As said in the article,

“This is the most educated generation, and they were told, “You’re special,’ ” notes workplace consultant J.T. O’Donnell. “Well … they’re not special, and they end up going out into the professional world and finding this out.”

Wow, and these are adults saying this, sounds like sabtage and competition to me. Imagine, parents throwing their kids under the bus (& vise versa) over jealously and money…thats some EOD stuff right there. Or maybe just survivalist actions of raw nature.

First let me make the point, I’m cool on taxes….Second…let me make this point, I pay them too (looking around).

Now this past week, we have heard in the news a lot of tax controversy with the assumed Obama administration, cabinet, blah blah.

While everyone was bashing the potential administration’s tax controversy. I asked the basic question, if there are such things as tax issues for experts, how do they think regular people are dealing with taxes on a regular basis?

Seriously Turbotax sorta helps but, for a non numeral personal its hard to say what all of those forms mean. It cost a boat load to find these so called tax cheats. Then again if you’ve done your taxes more than 5 times, your forms should be pretty consistent and therefore laziness could be to blame. As for the cabinet hearings it is a bit embarrassing for the main man over taxes to have tax issue. But the real question, are there really tax issues? I’m not getting Wesley Snipes on the matter but, I’ve learned with high level people who manage the fate of others, arrogance is very difficult to manage when money is involved. Why? Cause despite most of assumptions about wealth, money is the hardest lie to maintain (seriously am I lying?). That is unless there is the illusion of an issue with taxes or there is an illusion of special privileges for taxes. And if thats true, how are expert tax cheats, getting caught.

Maybe this is exposing how freaking hard taxes are to do for “most” people. Me, I feel so many people in D.C have sorta ,maybe tax issues is because they know something we don’t know? I dunno. And I feel so many people never really to jail over taxes in D.C unless a deal is broken. Sorta like how a politician gets labeled a tey gey or a mester with a girl, if they oppose or expose a shady bill on cspan or crap.

Now, I like to stay clear on “speaking” on Presidents agenda cause there are a million other sites that either hate on or fall in love with that stuff. If its not personally related to my situation…mehhh. But to honor, the every-man/woman’s issues with taxes is one of my favorite episodes on the matter:

The factor of breaking down our stimulus seduction… has come upon deaf ears for irony. On one end, the America’s need to take suggestions from Republicans, has made them completely insecurity, even before voting the bipartisian “Zero,” heard round the world this past week. Despite making good points on the second half of TARP (seriously sod for DC Mall, right now?), who would want to listen to them after backing the previous “Republican” president who denied the inevitability of recession until the day after it was made official, we were in a recession. Granted, I give credit, when credit it due, they and the trojan horse of the majority Democratic Congress could all be held blame. We’re at the point if Republicans had the cure for cancer, it would fall on deaf ears at this point, just saying.

So now, here we are with a stimulus that has the potential to create “green” new jobs, with the restoration of our bridges and roads and all that character building work many of us had heard about back in the day. Its obvious construction leaves less room for new mp3 player development and I have a strange suspicion if most of us are blue or t-shirt collar workers, that faux paus fastlife is the last thing on a mind when battling mere survival. Signaling a new turning point (for good or for bad), those streets of Minority Report cars and futuristic societies could all happen, for real real. We can actually see neighborhoods go from Good Times to the Jetsons (with Blacks & Latinos folks), though I always felt Rosie was Dominican.

With all the talk of green and new jobs, on thing never passed my mind. What if none of this works? What if there are no more jobs and the few we have, leaves a massive layoff trend even bigger than what we see in less than 3 months? (3 Months is my dramatic effect duration).

Over at the DMI Blog, Harry Moroz’s “Stimulating Modernization” discusses an overlooked factor, the unemployent benefit program. I even admit, looking at unemployment had never crossed my mind because, if we’re losing jobs, we’re doing something wrong.

“Along with funds to continue the extended unemployment benefits program and to increase the weekly unemployment benefit by about $25, the House stimulus bill includes $7 billion in incentives for states to modernize their unemployment insurance systems. Currently, as the National Employment Law Project quite thoroughly documents, state low-wage and part-time workers are often excluded from unemployment benefits. This results from eligibility criteria that exclude a worker’s most recent earnings (making it difficult for low-wage workers to accrue enough earnings to qualify for unemployment assistance if they are sacked) and that exclude unemployed part-time workers by requiring that they look for fulltime work.[Harry Moroz - DMI Blog]“

But in this day, its a necessary evil to point out the weak bureaucratic sectors of the government that’s never been tested for weakness, well besides the contracted org, FEMA. Its clear its time we be honest with what’s always been a lil broken. Remember the levy’s were a “lil” broken, and the SEC was a lil off about Madoff.

You may have missed it, with all the Inaugurations, the Prez’s first days in and th Blago hype but, while you were sleeping (or dreaming) the economy was hit hard with very pivotal job cuts. Most think, job cuts themselves are bad but, the sectors that had the cuts, technology, Home Depot, etc, these are very scary areas that not to long ago anyalsis arrogantly felt, were untouchable. See when strong sectors like this fold, weaker ones, break faster. I dunno, it may due to insecruity or a case of follow the leader. If anything smaller business benefit from large ones falling albeit shutting down shop before getting cut off at the knees.

In an ironic twist, Blago shows up on the same day and its almost like every time this guy is on TV, extremely pivotal job reports hit the news. But I could be bugging. That being said, Congress who laid on the sword for the infamous Bank Bailout, has now become extremely particular about release the second half of TARP. I mean really? Why now? Why not before when all of that money was thrown in the air and bankers rolled around naked in it while we had to sit and watch. Seriously congress, either put up or shut up…or is this just me being…duh.

It has to be a level of annoyance by the public to see Congress (post Bush) perpuate the very same mindset they blamed the former President for. It at least to say makes the new Prez, blemish free on saying “I want to fix this but…them…they don’t care about you. ” And whether they want that message portrayed, its sorta coming off like that. Congress gave away the first have to the banks and now the rest of the money, that is suppose to go to the “people,” congress wants to hold on to it and nit pick. See the media wants to place blame on the Republicans cause that’s easy. The hard part is telling the truth. Less we forget, Democrats were the first to say NO to Obama, when he first proposed this bill.

Not sure what happen and I’ve still haven’t heard how and why the Demo’s gave in but, on his adminstrations behalf, they delt with it. Now Republicans are not happy. And Obama can get the money without them, remember Democrats hold majority but, to hold with his “bipartisian” playlist he’s meeting with them to get their input.

Whether it bipartisan or not, the public, hell America feels jaded by the low approval rating Congress vs the record High Approval rating Pres and his play for the American public. This slow omission of Congress might actually (& seemingly) make Congress’s antiquated ways, seem more like the previous administration they claimed to hate so much.
