50 Cent’s G-Unit Studios to Be Controlled By Louisiana, Christian Conservative Committee

Louisiana approved 50 Cent’s $50 Million film studio project, with the following committee still having to approve expenditures and final word. The main stipulations are that the committee (corporation) strictly oversees how the state’s $50 million is used and ties every dollar to economic performance for measurable economic impact (jobs, wages, overall activity).

The commitee is composed of the following:

Secretary Susan Bourgeois (Republican)

Grant Nuckolls (Republican, appointed by governor)

Kyle Ruckert (Republican, appointed by governor)

Sen. Sam Jenkins (Democrat, appointed by Senate president)

Rep. Jack McFarland (Republican, appointed by House speaker)

All five operate in a political culture where “family” and “American values” language is common, but only the Republicans consistently frame their agendas in those terms, and in a conventional conservative way.

Gov. Jeff Landry, who appointed Bourgeois, Nuckolls, and Ruckert, repeatedly brands his platform as “pro‑life and pro‑family,” emphasizes parental rights in schools, and ties his agenda to protecting children and traditional values.

The value system expected by Christian Conservatives may determine the sustainability of 50 Cents film content as his prior projects have features drug culture, and high sexual content. There many be a content shift in his projects if the committee’s say start to influence his filming direction.

The overall project consist of G‑Unit Film & Television Louisiana, LLC plans to invest over $124 million of private capital to redevelop three venues. The Shreveport area Stageworks, the former Millennium Studios campus, and a new dome‑style immersive venue and park in downtown Shreveport.

An independent study commissioned by G‑Unit projects about $18.8 billion in total economic impact, more than 6,000 jobs, and roughly $300 million in wages over 20 years, reflecting the scale of the private‑sector–led build‑out and operations.

The city created a specialized Film and Entertainment Economic Development District downtown, with an extra 2% sales tax inside the district; those revenues are dedicated to qualifying “district development projects” linked to film, TV, or substantial jobs/capital investment.
