North Carolina’s Dudley Cosmetology University has closed its doors. Started by Joe and Eunice Dudley, they built a Black hair care product line that grew into a learning institution that educated many Black women (and some men).

The university curriculum included coursework in hair salon ownership, business education and licensed cosmetology.
Dudley continues on as a premier Black owned hair care product line, including it’s infamous Blue & White Q bottle seen in many Black households. Dudley Beauty Corp, LLC reached an estimated $40 Million in value with current sales at $5+ million per year.

If you ever saw Good Hair, the late Mr. Dudley was featured in the Black hair documentary by a slapless Chris Rock, hilariously discussing the value of Black owned products, businesses,and participation of Black consumerism.
