Understand, this is not just a “white” problem but when it’s Black people doing this, only to protest about racism (or complain about the “Jews”) once their shady business practices are exposed, is how many Black people end up disabled on protecting business services. Scammers have hid behind the accusations of “racism” and “others” paranoia to leave very valuable questions on the table.
Culturally, things built off enjoyment have always been an issue for Black people who operate on a different level. Some spaces we’re built to coexist, so when trying to merge joy with cold calculating, cost valuation find each other Mr Tendernism is pretty standard. This also exposes the dismissiveness of generational protection for Black people who come from eras that didn’t allow access, and those who came from modern eras that blocked opportunity.
The support of Black people around Mr. Tendernism is the ONLY way the younger generation should guide older businesses that don’t understand. At the same time, older business owners need to be open for accepting steps to protect their hard work with methods out of their wheel house. Mr Tendernism is 100% why much of Black progress collectively fails, because it requires the community to share the ideology of support not exploitation.
This also exposes the warped reasoning of many Black celebrities justify exploiting the Black consumer, using race as a loyalty plan, only to step on other Black people to get to the top, and then to get brand new. The community has to understand without factoring that back being stepped on, it has to be fed with opportunities or it won’t hold up the celebs that take that support for granted.
Very proud of how the community fought and protected Unc. But without shame, would it have worked?
Wins like that usually come with a different kind of attack, usually with a Black collaborator for the Destination Smokehouse owner to find a way to humble him (and maybe even Keith Lee). Real talk, spiritual attacks are very prevalent in American business, this why spirituality for many, the bookend for Black success.
Personal note:
A similar incident occurred between a Black Father who came to me to help him open a restaurant. He was excellent cook and through my startup audit, I’d learn his Black daughter filed for the business without her dad nor added his name to the registration.
I then had to counter operations, to help the dad build the business from top to bottom. After forensic restructuring, it was learned his daughter schemed with a white woman to essentially steal the business from him by using white lady and her son’s facility, selling out her dad as a worker, not an owner.
When my time was done and helped him secure everything from building supplies, grants, branding, etc the daughter filed a false assault charge to blow up his business, and he spent 4 years in court trying to explain how he was in another state (working with me) while his daughter and her family assault accusations occured at the same time in another state. Once cleared, he started experiencing weird health issues, and the suddenly no longer had the passion to cook anything.
These were all Black people but all it took was one possessed with the spirit of white validation to ruin everything.
For some Black people they’re just good at what they do, and it doesn’t always look like high brow strategy. It’s up to anyone in the community that can protect the talent, to do so with trust. It’s also important for those who protect to be respected and compensated when the work is done.
If you can pay someone white and find a way, there is no excuse to assume someone Black doesn’t deserve to be at least equally compensated.
