Legacy: Jesse Jackson, 84

Jesse Jackson’s long and sometimes controversial fixture of the Black community ended February 17, 2026. His presence in Post Jim Crow America allowed Chicago’s community to be an example the national economic disparity of Black America.

Jesse Jackson’s estimated estate values $4 million. This included Operation Rainbow Push, book deals, and a 1984 Presidential warchest.

During the Pro Black era of America’s 1970s, the religion-based Civil Rights Leader and mediator for Chicago Streets brought the new challenges of Black America to the masses, highlighting disparities beyond civil rights and into the modern hurdles of city blight.

His Rainbow Collation started as a mediation process during Chicago’s gang wars that showed Blue, Red, Yellow, Green, set colors as a peace negation to reduce crime in Chicago’s Black, Latino, and Irish neighborhoods.

Known to coin and popularize multiple phrases such as:

  • African American
  • Keep Hope Alive
  • I Am Somebody
  • Keep Your Eyes on the Prize
  • I was born in a slum, but the slum wasn’t born in me

Jesse Jackson’s contribution to Black History is the fore father to hashtag slogans we use today.
