New Illinois is a political movement that decided they no longer want to carry the burden of Cook County’s drama. These groups goal are to split most of the state off from Chicago/Cook County due to lack of representation for down state residents. This would create a new U.S. state, removing residents from the funding narrative without infrastructure support.
No name has been decided but the goal is currently labeled “New Illinois.”
Southern Illinois → Kentucky
Rural counties in southern Illinois have already passed nonbinding resolutions asking officials to explore leaving Illinois and joining Kentucky, citing disagreements over taxes and social policy.

The New Illinois movement joins Greater Idaho and Western Maryland that are gaining traction from residents looking to merge resources no longer aligned with extreme right or left politics.
